Herschel Park Education Centre is a proposal to adapt and extend the Coach House of the grade 2 listed Manor House ‘The Mere’ to provide an education facility and visitors centre for local schools and community groups. The project is part of a wider refurbishment of Herschel Park which is considered a hidden gem in Slough. The brief asked for a bright, flexible space that preserved and enhanced the existing building.
Our solution ensured a sympathetic refurbishment of the main building with the removal of a series of cluttered out buildings which freed up a lot of useable external space. A new entrance and service pod clad with cedar shingles provided a contemporary counterpoint to the historic building. The scheme is one of a series we have designed for Slough Borough Council. It provides a simple solution for servicing, entrance, site presence and creates useable external spaces.
